Overview

The Zeiss Sonnar 150mm f/4 has a moderate but unmistakable telephoto effect - shallow depth-of-field and compressed perspective. A popular lens for portrait, fashion and landscape photography.

"C" lenses constitute Hasselblad's ORIGINAL lens series and are intended specifically for the 500 series cameras. They have built-in leaf shutters with speeds up to 1/500th second and flash sync on all speeds.

I have a later C version with the T* multicoating and the images this lens produces are nothing short of spectacular. For those unfamiliar with medium format, the 150mm focal length is roughly equivalent to about 95mm in 35mm or FX format. Sharpness and contrast are outstanding and flare is essentially non-existent. Like all CZ lenses, it is built like a tank and although the focusing ring is on the stiff side (compared to say a Nikkor which is the standard), it is extremely smooth. All of the speeds of the Compur Shutter on mine are spot on.

Prices are now very reasonable now thanks to digital. One in very good shape can be had for under $400.
